Living As Indonesian Chinese part 1

Yes, I'm not talking about beauty of make up, as I said before I like to talk about beauty on everything :)
As you might guess, I am an Indonesian born Chinese. This two different country has different kind of beauty. But I was always thought the beauty itself is how do we feel about it, so don't be offended because I'm not trying to say Indonesia and China is more beautiful than other countries.

I've never been going to China, sadly. I've got families there too. My Grandfather is from Fu Jian.

First I thought, Oowww... Fu Jian is very near to Taiwan, from its look on the map.

That's why my name's Hoo :D The more I look at the pictures of China, cultures, nature, the people (good or bad as it is) I feel the comfort of having close relationship with the country. BUT I am Indonesian, I born here, and I also might die here, I hope.

So being Indonesian Chinese, me and families has rules which is acculturation from Traditional China, Dutch, and Javanese. In Indonesia you can't generalize only 1 culture to be known, there's a lot of cultures in Indonesia, I just coincidentally born in Central Java.

So in this mixed culture I grew up and found some what we're a little bit different from Chinese or Indonesian, like building our culture itself.

If you want to go to Indonesia you might say um... native or origin people such as Javanese, Ambonese, Sumatran, etc is more open to tourist or foreigners, on the other side we're might looks a little bit stiff to mingle with foreigners. But believe me, we're excited as much as other Indonesian curiosity about different cultures and people.

Some conversations in Indonesia you might regards first like,
"Selamat pagi" = "Good morning"
"Selamat siang" = "Good afternoon"
"Selamat sore" = "Good evening"
"Selamat malam" = "Good night"

You can open conversation with:
"Hallo, apa kabar?" = "Hello, how are you?"

In common you can calls name of the person you're talking to, but if you talking to someone older you have to call "koko", Indonesian Chinese use this term to call older brother/man, "cie-cie" is use to call older sister/woman, in some regions the pronunciation become "cik" or "cicik".

When you hear "terima kasih", "trims", "kamsya" or "xie-xie" it means "thank you". Indonesian Chinese often use "kamsya" to thanks, it's like business terms but you can use it if you're close enough with the person.

HELLO!!~ Products Review: Face Shop, ETUDE, Tony Moly, and Maybelline

It’s been so long since I've blogged, had been busy and tiring weeks, I almost get sick :(. Some of you might know beside Korean songs, Korean make up look is also popular recently. I don’t really into it until I found the Korean daily look is most likely simple and natural, not to heavy on eyeliner and no bold mascara/false lashes needed like Gyaru look in Japan. So here I’ve got some review for you, for new items that I’ve got :

1. FaceShop FaceIt Power perfection bb cream
Really-really light bb cream and brightening effect for your skin, it has variation colors, mine in Light Beige. It has 37 SPF/PA ++ and matte finish look. Be sure to let it blend to your skin for a while before apply loose powder for light makeup or compact for heavy makeup. I suggest using powder brush to apply thin layer of powder, you don’t have to use powder if you like. You can use dry sponge to apply it or with fingers it’s up to you.

2. My Lips Eat Cherry aqua tint, Lovely Me:Ex by FaceShop
I love this! It’s going to make your lip getting natural red. You can apply it on inner side of the lip after use the concealer on your lip and blend it out to get natural gradation. 3. Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals healthy natural concealer
Well this concealer is average, I guessed… I’ve never use concealer except going to party and had makeup artist apply my makeup. This time I choose this because it’s less expensive, works well, and at least makes my panda eyes less (muncul). If you have bigger budget to buy another product it’s okay 

4. Etude Drawing Show Gel Eyeliner
Err… This is my first gel eyeliner, I usually use liquid or pencil eyeliner, for me this gel liner is good. For a gel liner starter beginner it’s easy to use (sorry for subjective comment). But I have to look down and wait a while until the gel getting dry; usually I continue to work on my eye makeup (nggak sabaran). If you don’t wait until it’s dry it might blotchy on the lid…

5. TONY MOLY Simply Style Slim Mascara
I just open this and try it once, love it, (bisa menahan) my eyelashes natural look, and have the feel longer eyelashes look. One thing that I like this better than Maybelline Hyper Curl is it’s easier to remove with eye and lip makeup remover. Don’t you find it (mengganggu) when your mascara keeps half hanging on your lashes?

6. Maybelline Hyper Curl Volume Express
Don’t use it on lower lashes if you already have long lashes or thick lower lashes (maybe?). It’s going to fat up your lower lashes and make your eyes bold. For thin and little lower lashes better use this hehehe… It’s going to frame your eyes pretty.

7. Lovely Me:Ex cushion blusher by FaceShop
Ummm… It has pretty pink and orange color, but the point from this product is the package very cute!! Look at the blusher cute little ribbon on top of the puff hahaha… Makes you feel like little princess LOL.

8. REVLON New Complexion Sun Block Face Cream
The great thing from this product is the price is less expensive (of course), and light feels of sun block cream. Even though after approximately 5-6 hours it’s going to make your face bit oily (note: if it’s applied on combination skin like mine). Maybe not really a problem for dry skin face because it has vitamin C that gives moisture and smoothness skin and helping on tightening face.

9. Brightening Rice Water Cleansing Oil by FaceShop
I recently use this for removing any makeup excess’ left on my face after using cleanser. Looking oil cleanser without oil and oily result? It’s working really well. Your skin feels moisten and don’t worry, it’s not going to make the skin becomes oily.

10. RICE Ceramide moisture toner
Very sweet smell was containing in this toner phew… Giving you fresher skin, but so far I don’t find it special… But yeah it’s moisture your skin and not gonna make the skin dry like some other toners


Well, that’s all :D I hope the information help you to choose Korean product especially FaceShop if you want to try it, I’m personally recommend the skin care products.

I realized that I bought a lot of things lately, also since I’m into cooking too… FYI I’m not a good cook, but I like to cook sometime mostly Japanese cuisine. If you ask me about Indonesian cuisine don’t ask me, Indonesian cuisine is very hard for me (@_@)”

T-ARA Lovey Dovey Zombie Look Inspired Make Up

HAHAHA!!! In the middle of the night, I don’t have anything to do, and I don’t want to sleep yet. Watching T-ARA Lovey Dovey MV on my computer, and thinking to do the zombie look (it’s Halloween anyway I need something to spice up things). I’ve never do this kind of inspired makeup look, always see it on Youtube (check out oiseau88, Promise Phan and, meejmuse they’re amazing!)

I took these picture as reference. So this is it, my zombie look make up!

I think it’s so silly of me doing this, but its fun though.
So first I applied eye base gel on my lids, and used my Ultima II loose powder and made darker area became as pale as zombie like (better use white powder). I started to draw on eye lid a big wing liner with dark eye shadow to make it easier to draw with pencil liner (better use liquid liner/gel liner; I don’t have it at this time so I use my pencil liner).

I was used white matte eye shadow around the brow bone and made skin paler around the eyes, also added shimmer white eye shadow on the middle of the eye lid. Touch up the wing liner with pencil liner again and made it blend with white shimmer eye shadow just before on the middle lid. Lastly add black liner on water line, just half way though. Eye makeup finished.

I tried to shade my cheek to look thinner with brown flesh eye shadow to make my cheek bone higher and hollow cheeks. To make paler look, I was applied bb cream on my lip and use matte pink lipstick and use lip aqua tint on inside area of my lip.

Final Look

Narcissist time… (hahahahaha!!!!!!!)

Actually it’s not look like T-ARA zombie look, but it’s fun I think to try another inspired makeup look. But what d’ya think?

I tried this and finished off 1 sachet already, you don’t have to use a lot, you can use two times for 1 sachet :) I like this one!! Better than the 50 SPF. Why? Because the 50 SPF more oily but more lasting though. So it’s up to you, if your face is oily you can use the 30 SPF, if you need to use long lasting make up use the 50 SPF (oil face paper recommended, usually in tropical country heat seems to make our skin produce oil to keep the skin moist)

Nymph Aura Volumer
I haven’t use this yet, don’t have party event yet (hey… my friend getting married this October, and Halloween party also!!). Why it’s really good to use for party? I don’t say it’s for party, you like to look like Korean artist this is what you need :D It’s going to make your face brighter and shimmery look like Korean artist do 
White Moistfull and Be Clear Moisturizer are moisturizer of course, all for brightening effects, different use.

Collagen Moistfull trial kit, haven’t open it yet, its collagen moisturizer kit. You know, collagen is good for rejuvenating and make younger skin for your face, even though in some cases make you get acne breakout. So far I’m consuming vitamin E for my skin, never get the chance to try collagen drink (hmm… Thinking to try it)

Mini Make Up and Skin Care Collection

note: I'm not a make-up artist or make up guru. I'm just learning makeup by my own.

Couple weeks ago I was disposing expired makeup, so I bought some for exchange, and thin up my entire collection. Especially skin care routine, since my face is improving so I change my dermatologist skin care to Body Shop.

Fist thing first, this is my blusher, face powders, and eyeshadows...

1. Maybelline Shine Free Blush is very pigmented, matte results, good pint is you don't have to dab it too much to apply it on your face. For lighter skin would be too red, so do not get too many or you might end up like your face's slapped.

2. Tony Moly Cristal Blusher :) I like it so much, it's new, I just bought it and fell in love with it. I know I should go for peach or orange, because this pink jubilee works more like shimmers for your face

3. REVLON compact powder, I love this so much yet this one was the cause of my whiteheads break out... This works really well actually, matte results gives clean smooth face. I keep this just for finishing bold make up. *I don't want to have whiteheads breakout again*

4. Acnes Compact Powder, when I've got those whiteheads on my face, I thought it might help, but the smell is... like medication drugs? Anyway I don't like it.

5. Viodi Acne Loose Powder, I found this loose powder and love it, very soft particle, makes your face soft but it's only have one color. After my peeling done, my face brighter then before this powder makes my face darker.

6. Ultima II Full Moisture Loose Powder, my current loose powder, yey... I like it so much, light on your face, and very cute lavender package :)

7. Mirabella 12 colors palette ----> THESE actually my first eye shadow palettes! For beginners this palette is cheap, high pigmented, long lasting use, and great colors. This is local by the way, made in Indonesia :D *on my college time I was only using dark eyeliner and black eye shadow... punk and goth always my style those days...(-___- ")

8. Bless Eye Shadow, I want to dispose this, but the texture is good, nothing change, so I guess it's still save to use. . . Maybe I'll dispose this later. It's not really great but not bad, just average eye shadow. Again this is also local, made in Indonesia.

9. VIVA Eye Shadow Duo! Hahahaha!!! I've got these two when I buy set of eye brow and liner pencil of VIVA. Do I recommend these? It has really shimmer pigmented color, so I'm not using it as eye shadows yet, sometime I use the brick brown eye shadow as eye brow liner to match my hair color to my eye brow :p But the black is matte so I uses it as eye liner sometime.

10. Moving on to my second favorite : REVLON Wet/Dry Shadow Ombre A Paupiers, in flesh tone :D This very good for natural look if you're in hurry, bit light and dark shadows give some eye liner, taraaaa... finish!!

11. Last eye shadow is my NEW NYX 10 colors eyeshadow, the Runway Collection, Caviar and Bubble. LOVE IT! It's my favorite now :D Almost use it all the time :D It's high pigmented for long use, nude and netral color plus soft pink and matte black! I definitely recommend this for 2012 makeup beginners!

Lipsticks, I had a lot of lipsticks before, so sad when my favorite nude color is expired.

12. VIVA Queen in pale pink, this one have cute matte color, sometime I use this as lip base (hahaha...)before I apply another lipstick to make lip-tint Korean look.

13. ETUDE Aqua Rouge, it's orange red, very beautiful color, glossy look makes you lip plumps, maybe I'll look for orange like orange fruit lipstick after this haha! I'm referring Hyuna looks on PSY - Gangnam Style feat. Hyuna.

14. Maybelline Water Shine and Revlon Matte lipstick, I don't really see the differences of the color, except Maybelline have this really glossy look and Revlon really really matte. It's for natural lip color, so use it when my lip's pale or to red... or to black?

15. LIP BALM!! Don't ever wear lipstick when your lip were cracked. Put on lip balm before you sleep and apply it before using lipstick. If I'm too lazy to wears lipstick, I use Lip Ice Sheer Color :) It's gradually change your lip bit more red. Oriflame Tender care isn't only use for lip, it can be use for any other dry area such your hands, nails, elbows, ankles etc. I've got this Tender Care Caramel on promo, smell sweet like caramel syrup or candy ;p

16. ORIFLAME Very Me liquid foundation... actually I must confess, I don't know what the hell is this, is it bb cream? Foundation? Maybe a primer base for make up? Anyway I use this before match so good on my skin, right now it's make my face become orange *Duh.. I'm happy my face is brighter, but it cost me to dispose this foundie thing and loose powder

17. New mascara... Hyper Curl Mascara by Maybelline, my last mascara from Face Shop was dry up, so I guess it's time to change it. My first mascara also Maybelline, it's cheap (in my opinion)and good quality also. My new and still in sealed is Tony Moly Simply Style, I haven't use it yet because mascara only have 3 months using time, if you keep it correctly it may live longer (Gahahahaha.. sorry I don't have better line)

18. VIVA Queen eye base gel , I'm not recommend to buy this but it's cheap and useful for some time to keep your eye make up stay longer. You may have another brand for this.

19. SHISEIDO Black Mask!! I highly recommend this, but if you have sensitive skin or having acne problems please cure the acne first before use. This peel off mask is works really good! It's peel off you dead skin, whiteheads, blackheads, and I think some of your face hair! (just kidding!) you may get it online for 1$ a sachet, 1 sachet for 2 times full face mask, and 5-6 times for your nose/T area.

20. Since I'm wearing Body Shop Skin care, their day cream don't have SPF or sun blocking effects, so I bought this REVLON new complexion sun block face cream. Very light, I'm apply this after day moisturizer cream and before bb cream.

21. Hair velcro!! I'm addicted to this thing hahaha!! Works better than having bandana :) It's for holding your hair back while you apply make up, wearing mask, or cleaning your face. very-very cheap! 1$ maybe, but in Indonesia only IDR 3000 hahaha...
